At a time when news organizations are cutting to bone, reducing their investigative staffs in favor of cheaper day-to-day coverage, LA Weekly took the bold move of hiring one of the top editors in the country. As editor of the Las Vegas Sun, Drex Heikes brought the newspaper a Pulitzer Prize. Heikes, an 18-year veteran of the LA Times, sought and hired top talent when he was at the helm of the Sun, and he promises to do
the same at the LA Weekly.
